They keep thinking that you're car is parked continuously in the same spot. They're onto you so just don't park there anymore.

As far as contesting a ticket, best of luck to you. I've been in traffic court in 3 counties in VA and the District of Columbia and some of those judges will show no mercy on you. Not to dissuade you, but your defense ought to be a good one. On the flip side, even if you lose, they should reduce your ticket(s) simply because you showed up to plead your case. Oh yeah, as mentioned above, definitely bring photos of your car parked in that spot with the signs posted. Even better if the photos have a date and time on them. Good luck!

With the economic downturn, you can expect to get a ticket for all sorts of things they used to let slide. And don't even bother trying to fight them.

By the way, Fairfax County Parks have always had a sign requiring launch fees for the boat ramps. We've been kayaking for years and never bothered to pay. Nobody cared. This year, we got a ticket--first time that's ever happened. It was only $2, but still I was surprised because they never enforced the rule before this.

You got a ticket before in that spot, and you parked there again! Dah!

Final Update: I am moving from the place in a few weeks. Subsequently, VDOT came and removed the parking sign. Now it is less confusing. I have seen the police ticking about 3-4 cars at a time in that location and even across the street. I talked to one officer and he says they are aware of the issue. I guess they can come and ticket whenever they need to fill some paperwork
