Smile Rural, Safe, Inexpensive Towns

Hi,

I think I have a good prospect on a job in Orange. I am starting from scratch due to previous bad housing choice in another state. I need to know some nice, safe, cheap towns near Orange for land, housing and/or rentals. I mean housing under 200k, even under 170K. Rents 600-700/month, land - 30 - 40,000. I do like small towns that have some shopping though so maybe there is a town that is starting to build up that I would be interested in? Also, what do you think of Orange? I will be there next week. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Should probably ask this in the general Virginia forum... Orange isn't really that close to the NoVA area.

Why not live in Orange? It seems like a nice little town.

One of my favorite store names is in Orange and called, "Orange Paint Store". Sounds like you could only buy orange paint there!

I love Orange. I think it's a beautiful part of Virginia with generally nice people. It is a small town and comes with the general advantages/disadvantages (safety but lack of amenities). I'm sure you could find a house for that price. The only place I wouldn't by a house in Orange is on Lindsey Dr. You should check out Gordonsville as well. It's growing exponentially and very quaint but can be a little rougher than Orange in some areas. Orange middle school and high school have also just been rebuilt within the last ten years if you have kids. Good luck!

Default Culpeper

Have you considered Culpeper, Virginia. I bet you could find a well priced home in that price range, it is a small town near Orange with major roadways nearby. Take a look at a community called Three Flags.
