Default Vacation Travel Question to Bethany Beach

Just a quick question - how long do you think travel from Arlington VA to Bethany Beach on Thursday July 2nd....realize traffic might be pretty bad. We have a one year old, so trying to plan. Plan on leaving around 11AM. Any suggestions on better times? Check in time is 2PM on Thurs.

Thanks for any help.

I think if you leave by 11 am you should be okay -- maybe add about 1/2 hour to an essentially 3 hr trip. It may be a little shorter if the traffic is normal. It should take 3 hours with normal traffic. Don't stop until you get over the Bay Bridge -- there are some decent places to stop for a drink and bathroom break on the other side -- maybe Kent Island. Also -- be VERY VERY careful in all the small Delaware towns -- the speed limits drop dramatically as you enter the town -- and the police are just waiting to give you a nice big fat ticket to help support these little "drive through" towns. I am dead serious -- sometimes the speed drops from 55 to 45 to 35 to 25 in a few blocks . . . and BINGO! ticket!

If you leave at 11am, you should be fine.

Get a EZ Pass if you don't already have one.

I take it there's a toll road somewhere in there? Is it a moderately-priced one or a price-gouger?

Just the Bay Bridge. It's $2.50.

No -- the amount of money is not bad but without an EZPass you could sit in traffic --although 11 am should be fine.
