Moving to Fredericksburg in 2 or 3 weeks.. good, budget friendly neighborhoods?
As mentioned, I am moving to Fredericksburg in a few weeks and need to find a decent apt under $700 if possible. I am willing to look south of Fredericksburg as well but I think being closer to my new job is best at least at first. I plan to go there this upcoming weekend to look around at a few places but I'm not seeing much that fits my budget. Please advise.
Thanks in advance,
Jacob

Are you interested in living in Fredericksburg City proper or one of the suburban counties (Spotsylvania, etc.) surrounding it?

Alicia, thanks for your response. My Job is somewhat near Southpoint Plaza. So I'd like to be close by but if I did look in other areas I would prefer somewhere south and that's convenient to 95 since I have family in Richmond.

I'm really only familiar with the 2-3 neighborhoods inside the Fredericksburg city limits since I was seriously considering moving there at one time, but that probably wouldn't be the most practical option for you, given where you'll be working and wanting to have easy access to (i.e., south of the Fredericksburg city limits). Have you tried the main Virginia forum?

No, I thought (potentially incorrectly), that this would be the applicable forum as I have seen a number of others ask and respond to questions about Fredericksburg here but a lack of responses has me doubting it.

People might not be responding because it's going to be very hard to find an apartment for under $700/month. The cheapest apartments I know of in Fredericksburg are over $800/month.
You're probably going to need a room-mate to keep costs down. If you can split a 2 bed 2 bath with someone, I'm sure you could then keep rent around $600/month.
There aren't any apartments south of Spotsylvania county that I know of. There are some cheap homes for rent in Caroline, but I doubt you want to rent a house...
Actually, I just checked Craigslist, and it looks like you might have a couple options there. I'd suggest checking out the apartment section, as well as the room share section.
craigslist: fredericksburg classifieds for jobs, apartments, personals, for sale, services, community, and events
Good luck!

Yeah, craigslist is great. I had actually found a few places as a roommate on there, I was just hoping someone knew of something that wasn't posted since I would prefer not to have a roommate. Unfortunately, I won't be working in Fredericksburg now. The guy who I was hired to replace apparently decided not to leave the company I was going to work for. Thanks for everyones help. City-data is one of the most useful forums I've come across.
