Convertibles in NOVA
Hi group - Moving to NOVA from CA soon. I grew up in upstate NY, so I understand winter. I lived in Laurel, MD for a few years until 2003, so I've had a taste (fading recollection) of the DC region. What don't have a good grasp of is whether it is worth keeping my Mini convertible in NOVA. We do have a Passat wagon for moving the kids to and fro, but I'm searching for views on how much use a convertible will get. I've loved it here in the SF Bay area, but... Thoughts? Thanks!

You will be able to have the top down much of the year. Even in December we have those rare, warm, days. I drive a convertible and one year I was able to have the top down at least one day, every month. Generally, there are only three months when you probably won't put the top down, December, January and February.

Well, I probably wouldn't put the town down as much as Denton56 (I'm a VER fair-weather person) but I think you have a good shot of having the top down most of April, May, June, July, August, September, and October. Probably not everyday during those months (especially this year with all of our rainfall) There are plenty of convertibles around here.

We love ours and I would hate to go without one. This spring and early summer has been perfect for it...well, at least on the days that haven't been rainy.

It's a lot warmer here than in the Bay area (I was born there)

Thanks for the convertible support! Part of my concern was all the talk of the traffic being so bad that I was wondering if the slow speeds combined with hot/humid weather might force me to have the top up and have the AC on. I expect I'm over-thinking the issue...

You will get a lot of use out of it - and even when traffic creeps along you will get a slight breeze to keep you happy.
