Can anyone point me in the right direction. I am moving to the area in 2 weeks and we have a TH in Springfield. I love thrift, resale, and antique stores. Are there any in Springfield? Any good ones close?

Also, if you know of a kids retail shop that buys used clothes that would be a huge help as well!

Thank...Stacey

There is a very large thirft store very close to Springfield called UNIQUE Thirft Store. The address is: 2956 Gallows Road, Falls Church VA. It is worth checking out! I have been there several times with my daughter who is a college student. She found this thrift store last year and goes there often with her friends to find clothes, household items for her off campus apartment, used books, old records etc. They also have another store in Maryland, which we have gone to as well. Not sure about kids consignment stores in the area since it's been a few years since my daughter was that young!

There's a children's consignment store ("Treasured Child") at 9411 Old Burke Lake Rd. in Burke.

Try Auntie Te's Consignment Shop in the Bradlick Shopping Center, corner of Braddock and Bradlick Roads. Technically that's Annandale but it's a hop skip and jump from Springfield. Auntie Te has exquisite taste and I think you will love her shop.

Upscale Resale is fun, and just around the corner from Unique in Falls Church. Don't be intimidated by the prices on their website. They have a lot more inventory on the floor than what they highlight online. They lower the price on each piece on a schedule (that schedule is clearly marked on each item's price tag), so you can decide whether you want to buy something now or take a chance on saving a couple hundred by waiting for the next markdown. We've gotten some great buys there.

I love thrift store shopping, too. I am in Vienna so am not too familiar with those in Springfield. But I agree that Unique on Gallows Rd. is worth checking out. It is a HUGE store and is part of a chain. There are several smaller stores, too. There is one on Route 123 in Fairax that is part of the Humane Society, I think. I haven't been there in years. There is also a small one in Vienna called Pennywise Thrift. It's very small and sometimes doesn't have very much but their prices are usually pretty cheap. There is a big Goodwill in Manassas, Sterling, Bailey's Crossroads (Falls Church/Arlington area), and Arlington.

As far as consignment stores that buy clothes. I believe Kid to Kid is still open in Centreville, and Paddington Station in Vienna also buys (mostly upscale brands). Hope this helps some!

For a nice weekend trip make the trek out ot Loudoun county.
Downtown Leesburg has quite a few antique stores and a few thrift shopes and re-sale as well. Then go out to Luckettes many antique stores. Stop at the wineries and the farmers markets while you're out there as well.
