Question classic American Food restaurant?

I want to take a visitor from overseas to dinner to have a taste of American Food. I have not decided where to go but it could be Alexandria, Falls Church or in Reston/Herndon areas depending on where we go during the day.

Don't want to break the bank either. Any suggestion?

Mike's American Grill is always good. Not too expensive either.

Jackson's is part of the same "chain" of restaurants as Mike's American Grill, and is in Reston Town Center. I haven't been, but if you like Carlyle/Sweetwater/Mike's/Coastal Flats, you'll probably like Jackson's.

Another vote for the "Mike's" chain; also, Southside 815, Hard Times, Red Hot and Blue, and King Street Blues.

Ted Turner's Montana Grill in Sterling, in the Cascades Marketplace near the Home Depot. They serve Buffalo meat, you can't get any more American than that.
