There have been 6 straight years of below normal snowfall at DCA (15" or less). We could be due this year, especially if the current pattern persists into the winter (hot west and south, cold north and east).

I have been here about 3 years and the snow is almost nothing - hardly a couple of inches and does not last long. I really miss snow.

The slushy sleety stuff we've had just messes up the commute. Rather have a good snow you can shovel.

I'm laughing at this strand. Snow blowers are great. They are the BEST insurance possible against having any snow. Years ago we inherited the in-laws big heavy snowblower from New England when they became snow birds in Florida and it was five years before we used it. As for the schools, have fun watching the flurry of late openings or closures when the first flakes hit the ground. I work in the schools and every year I'm warning the new teachers from the Midwest or New York that they won't believe it, and they don't.

I had a friend who moved to Omaha a few years back. When the first inch of snow came, my friend called her new job and said, "I guess work is cancelled today?" She said there was a long pause and then the receptionist said, "Uh . . . why?"

Last winter was really mild. We only used our snowblower once.

I will probably think the snow they get in NOVA is alot, I live in the desert and we don't see much snow here, although 16 miles up the mountain they get snow.

One year we had a big snowstorm on November 11th, but that is VERY unusual. It doesn't usually snow until December, but the bulk of what snow we get is most often in January and February.
