It was cancelled this year, a victim of the economy. But today I learned The Belmont Summer Music Fest will be held after all!

Loudoun Times

If you've never been, the Belmont Music Festival is a mellow way to spend a summer evening. Tickets are about $15, and you sit on blankets or lawn chairs on a field in front of the Belmont Ridge County Club.

The bands are usually groups that were big a decade ago--they may not be the most current but the music is still great and you can't beat the price, IMO. Last year my whole family had a fantastic time watching Blues Traveler. I just can't tell you how delighted I am to hear they were able to bring this event back, I really felt sad when they cancelled it.

This year they'll have Survivor (best known for “Eye of the Tiger”), the Romantics, America, and the Danny Federici Festival-Celebrity Jam Fest.

I wouldn't mind seeing America. Love to hear them sing "I've been through the desert on a horse with no name."

Of course, since they're performing in Loudoun they ought to change the lyrics to something like this:

"I've been through Virginia where the towns have no name.
It felt good to be out of the rain.
In Loudoun you join an HOA.
cause there aint no cities for to give you no pain..."
