Would appreciate some input on commute times from Great Falls to Tysons Corner (approx. Westpark and 7).
I am currently living in Vienna 22181 near Reston, and my commute ranges from 15 mins to 30 mins depending on traffic. We're considering building a house in Great Falls but I'd rather keep my worst case commute under 30-35 mins if possible. Ideally I would find a place in McLean west of Tysons but prices are very high and lots are hard to come by.
My best guess is that I should look for a lot between 7 and 193 and east of 674, and that anything north of 193 would add a lot of time given the traffic inbound to DC. OTOH if the commute would be comparable, buying north of 193 offers better prices and more selection.
However I don't know what the north-south traffic is like (for example, down Walker Rd) and how bad the traffic is on 7 west of Towlson Rd.
Many people would envy a Great Falls to Tysons commute. Any of those options make your life easy in this area.
+1
I know people that would bike that distance with proper paths. And I don't mean anything with a motor. Virginia is way behind on biking options. You may think it would take an hour, but many that commute by bike make it to where they are going well before the cars.
Traffic moves normally through Great Falls and there are lots of back ways into Tysons. It’s a good commute for our area.
