I am incredibly direction illiterate and need a TON of help. Just moved to Vienna and live literally across the street from Tysons' Corner and need to commute to Arlington, VA (specifically Carlin Springs Rd) and have no idea what the best way to get there would be without spending my life in traffic or inadvertently in a HOV lane at the wrong time. If I have a normal 9-5 type of job, what's the best way of getting there?

Much thanks in advance,
TH

You can take Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) to Seven Corners and turn north onto Route 50. Carlin Springs intersects Route 50 about a half-mile from Seven Corners.

I work in Ballston and would strongly suggest avoiding Seven Corners. If you simply MUST take Seven Corners, going eastbound on 7 I'd suggest turning left down Patrick Henry (stoplight after Home Depot), going straight across St 50 and turning right on John Marshall, and heading down Wilson Blvd. You can bail towards Carlin Springs Rd by turning right on one of the cross streets (like S Abingdon), but that depends where you are working on Carlin Springs.

You may want to try taking Rt 7 eastbound to downtown ("city of") Falls Church and turning left on Rt 29 to avoid the Seven Corners chaos.

LOL - I guess a certain atari arcade game with a frog is too unpure for this site :P! Does that route above let you bypass seven corners completely? And how long approximately would that take? Thank you so much in advance.

If you take Rt 7 to Rt 29 (Lee Highway) that bypasses Seven Corners altogether.

That is awesome and seriously just saved me from a possible heart attack, thanks! Is that route traffic-ey also?

There will be traffic (and stoplights), of course, but it at least moves. If you go through Seven Corners you are stuck at many-multiples-of-light cycles.

Cool use 7 and 237 to Arlington VA

Take 7 south and turn L onto
N washington St at Falls Church VA (237 N)
Turn R onto E Columbia St. which becomes 16th St. N
turn R onto N Roosevelt St. which becomes Roosevelt Blvd.
then turn L onto Wilson Blvd into Arlington

You could also just stay on 237 N/E if the traffic wasn't to bad into Arlington
