Default Friday Traffic - Suggestion Reqd

Hello,
We stay in Sterling, VA and planning to visit Sherando Lake this Friday 7th Aug. Here is the destination address.
44 Creekwood Ln
Lyndhurst, VA 22952
Driving directions:
from: 22260 Pacific Blvd, Sterling, VA 20166 to: 44 Creekwood Ln, Lyndhurst, VA 22952 - Google Maps
The suggested route is 66W and 81S. We are tending towards 81S
We CANNOT leave before 1 PM on Friday
We have two queries:
1.What is the Best time and route(post 1 PM) to leave ?
2. It may also be possible that we can leave only by 4:30; in that case what is the best route to take.
Thanks for your help !!!

Regards,
- S

If you can leave at 1:00 you'll be fine--even on Friday afternoon things aren't going to be busy until 3ish, by which time you'll be out of the NoVA traffic scene.

At 4:30 . . . I don't know, 28S and 66W are both going to be very slow. You could try cutting out to 15S via back roads, which will be slow from the join with 29 until Warrenton but that's only like 10 miles.
