My husband and I are currently living in centreville. We are in need of a little advice for moving closer to Fort Myer base (this is where my husband works). We want to stay on the Virginia side. We also need a place that's pet friendly so we don't have to walk our dog in the city. 1000-1200 is our price range for rent. I know that's not much for this area but we are still looking. We don't really need much nightlife, just a local bar to enjoy. Any suggestions would be very helpful. Thank you!

There should be plenty of apartments off of Columbia Pike in South Arlington in this price range. I'm sure there are some that allow pets. Some apartment complexes are grittier than others, but you will definitely find a studio in that range. There are dog parks in Arlington, but I don't know where the ones in So Arlington are.

Clolumbia Pike is undergoing a bit of a renaissance closer to the Pentagon, between Washington Blvd and South Glebe Road. There is an old Movie theater, a few low-key restaurants, bars, late night diners. It's also a very walkable area. (A bar you might want to check out is the LA Bar and Grill--LA stands for Lower Arlington, and Bob and Edith's is popular a hole-in-the-wall diner open 24 hrs)
