I commute from Reston to the Tyson's Corner section of McLean. I usually take Route 7. It's about 20-25 minutes in the morning and around 25-30 minutes in the early-afternoons from door-to-door. It's not bad at all. If the buses ran just a tad more frequently between Reston Town Center and Westpark Drive in Tyson's Corner I'd consider taking mass transit. I WILL be utilizing the new Silver Line, as a new station will be built conveniently near to both my apartment and my office in several years.

Since I work very early I usually don't hit much of that "dreaded Tyson's Corner traffic" most down here seem to love to whine about. The only exception would be Wednesdays, which seem to always be just a tad more congested than any other day of the week. My theory behind this is that it is the day of the week that people are least-likely to take off from work.

Woodbridge (Cardinal Drive area) to Washington Navy Yard. By car 40-45 mins (but I am leaving at 5:20 a.m.) The commute home leaving anywhere between 2:30 and 3:00 is the exact same time. Oh, it's 30 miles door-to-door.

I never had to, but a friends dad use to commute from Culpeper to either Fairfax or D.C. back in the 90's. It's like 60 miles but would take 2 or more hours with traffic. I can't remember exactly what he did, but it must have been worth it. Many others from Culpeper make that awful commute as well.

Some of your guys' commutes make me want to hide in a closet out of fear. How in the world do you do it?

Kingstowne to US Army Corp offices on Telegraph, 1.5 miles, all right hand turns in the morning. Commute sucks if the car in front of me at the gate chats up the guard. And the wait for the elevator, endless!

My motto...live and work in the same zipcode!
