Manassas to Chantilly - takes approx. 25 minutes with traffic, without it's about 15-20 min.
I take rt. 28 the whole time.

Holy canoli! There was NO traffic whatsoever this morning on my Reston to Tyson's Corner commute! I still can't believe it! It was my first time commuting since arriving home from my business trip. Does everyone crawl under a rock during the month of August?

Yup! Welcome to Washington in August. Congress, and their huge staffs, are gone, so the lobbyists are also gone. Shrinks are gone, swim team is over, and everyone has gone on vacation! August is THE BEST month to commute. I love this time of year in NOVA, less traffic, fewer people in stores, restaurants, and everywhere else. Very pleasant. Enjoy!

Seriously. I'm a SAHM, and our toddler playgroup has maybe 5 meetups this whole month. (Usually, we have 3-4 per week!) But everyone is on vacation...you know a place is slow when even the SAHMs leave on vacation.
I agree with Denton56, though, it is a nice time to be in town.

I'm sure mine will be one of the shortest.
I walk and it takes me 15 minutes to get from the Glenmore neighborhood of Alexandria to Carlyle section. Both in 22314 zip code.
If I drove, it would be about 5 minutes, including finding parking.

From Courthouse in Arlington to...Courthouse in Arlington. 2 relatively flat blocks but the sometimes the wind can really getcha coming around the corner in the winter!
Most mornings I'm in downtown DC though. 7min walk to the metro, 20min train ride (though this varies WILDLY as of late), 8min walk to the office.
