Curious why we don't have more folks from Mexico here but so many from countries South of it. Is there something about this area that doesn't appeal to them? Are the latinos in most other parts of the U.S. besides CA, TX, and the Southwest predominantly Mexican or Central American?

Default Uncle Julio's

Uncle Julio's is a good choice for Tex-Mex. They're Dallas-based and have several locations in the DC Metro, including Reston, Fairfax & Woodbridge. Their queso is outstanding, as is their "swirl" margaritas. Much, much better choice than Chevy's (barf!). Uncle Julio's

We used to eat at Tequila Grande when we lived in the area. It's in Vienna on Maple Ave. We moved here from Texas and we liked it okay. We also like Uncle Julio's Rio Grande Cafe, which is based in Dallas. There's one in Reston and one in Ballston. The Fajitas at Uncle Julio's are really good.

We like this restaurant in Fairfax: The Best Mexican Food in Fairfax | Heated Outdoor Dining | Live Music | Catering

It's small, always busy and the food is really good.

If you are going to be in Ballston, I recommend El Paso Cafe over Uncle Julios/Rio Grande.

I think you might have to go back to San Diego, sadly enough.

Not in Vienna. Plaza Azteca in Sterling. Same one as in the Hampton Roads area.

If you are ever out 66 west you might wan to try El Vaquero West in Haymarket. We like it and it is really popular. Not anything fancy but inexpensive and tasty. I used to own the "Burrito Joynt" in Alexandria VA and spent a lot of time tasting and testing Mexican food as well as lived in CA. I think it is pretty good for this area. The majority of reviews are good too.
