Default Jobs at Quantico and Alexandria- where to live?

My husband and I are going to be moving to N. Virgina for our jobs- I will be working at Quantico and he, in Alexandria. We are right now in Maryland- we want to find a nice, middle-class area, low crime, decent schools, with trees, walking paths, etc. We'd like to buy a townhome or single family home, but we don't know where to begin. Any advice would be welcome!
Thanks!

Lorton and, per others' recommendations here, the Lake Ridge section of Woodbridge may be two good places to start. Perhaps Occuquan as well.

I would live in Springfield/Burke/Kingstowne area if I were you. The reason is the commute times won't be too bad for your husband. The commute down to Quantico from the north is much easier than trying to go northbound to Alexandria.

What's your price range?

West Springfield, Ft. Belvoir, Lake Ridge/Woodbridge, or Lorton would be a good match in between the two cities.
