Default Opinions needed on commute from Alexandria to Suitland Federal Center

Someone posted in reply to my question on the Maryland forum that commuting from Alexandria to the federal center in Suitland, Md could be doable. What is the Wilson Bridge like going this way? I had planned to find a place to live in the Waldorf or Upper Marlboro areas of MD but so far I haven't had much luck. So I'm wondering if it is worth looking at Alexandria if the commute isn't too bad. I"m a young professional looking for a reasonably priced one bedroom as well as a place somewhat nearby to board a horse.

Yes, it is very much worth it. The traffic coming up from Southern MD is *terrible*. The traffic northbound over the WW moves fairly well except for holiday times and Friday nights.

My mom works at Suitland Federal Center and has been commuting from Woodbridge. The worst part of her commute is from Woodbridge to Springfield. Once she gets on I-495 headed toward the WW Bridge, it's a snap according to her. She does go rather early, but is probably crossing the bridge around 6:15 a.m.

A commute from Waldorf to Suitland is very doable. There is no escaping traffic in the area. The traffic is not good at all, but you will be very close to home living in Waldorf. I wish when I lived in Waldorf I worked in Suitland, but I didn't I worked in Bethesda!!!!

Check out Bowie also. Have you thought about just taking the Metro green line will let you off at the Suitland Center? It's a thought, if you can be without your car for lunch at least.

You don't have to drive, metro bus/train is VERYYYYY convenient!
