Default Giant donut birthday cakes?

Hi all,

Does anyone have any idea where I can find a shop that makes giant donut birthday cakes? Not after a cake that is simply normal sized donuts stacked on each other but rather one over sized donut. We were able to purchase them in Australia (they were so yummy) & my husband has requested one for his up coming birthday but I can't find any online.

I've also tried to find a cake that we call Mississippi Mud Cake in Australia (a super moist & very dense chocolate cake that is covered in icing that is like melted chocolate). Figured they must be from the USA originally due to the name but can't find a baker that has them either. That is his other favourite.

We will be away on his birthday weekend so no chance for me to bake anything myself.

Thanks

Mmmm...Mississippi Mud Cake. So delicious! I had completely forgotten about those! I've never heard of a giant donut birthday cake though - I never saw anything like that back in Australia.

Now you've got me thinking about Mississippi Mud cakes. And sticky date pudding! Yummmmm!

I've not heard of the donut birthday cake.

The Missippi Mud Cake sounds a *LOT* like the recipes I've seen for Texas Sheet Cake.

Unfortunately, most bakeries in this area do not make cakes like these.

Try a Louisiana company that ships King Cakes - King Cakes are very popular around Fat Tuesday (Madi Gras) and they are very much like a giant round pastry. They also come plain or with different fillings. They come with a small baby on the side - you put the baby (if you want) in the cake and the person that gets the piece with the baby inside has to buy the cake the next year. I think you will like them and they ship around the country. Gambinos is a state wide bakery that I have experience with and like. There web site is below.

Australian Mississippi Mud cake isn't the same as Texas sheet cake. This is what the Australian version is - Mississippi mud cake

It's super good heated up in the microwave so the chocolate frosting melts into the cake, and topped with a scoop of icecream.

Oh just looking at the photo you posted is making my mouth drool!!! Yeah it seems that what us Aussies call mud cake is totally different to what is called Mud Cake here.

Oh well will keep searching.
