It was not a part of Mr. Simon's divine plan. Are you aware that Mr. Simon (RES) lives very near you in the high rise on Lake Anne?

Did it mention anything about their "lease-to-own" program? That may be of interest to you.

ScranBarre, I'm not going to bother telling you why I love it here as you and I are not the same person and likely have different tastes. But if you can't find things to like living in the DC area you probably won't find them elsewhere. If you want to live in the city, live in the city. If you want to live in the boonies, live in the boonies (which Reston used to be but clearly no longer is). Only you can answer your question.
But it sounds like in your situation I'd want to be in a more urban area like Arlington, Bethesda or somewhere similar. On the other hand, for example, with the W&OD and the not-too-heavily trafficked or intersected roads of Reston (compared to DC or Arlington), trading from riding a bike in Reston to riding in Arlington (even with bike lanes!) may not be the greener grass you're looking for.

The boomers never have and never will care about anything but themselves and their own self interested pursuits.
You're talking about the generation that said 30 was the new 20 and 40 was the new 25 and 50 was the new 29.
These vacuous, soulless, infinitely vane parasites have no capacity for shame with their plastic surgery, viagra pills, fad diets and expensive gym memberships to try to avoid the aging process and acknowledge that they are going to die some day.
On the other hand, that's really what it is all about. Nihilism has finally overtaken America and the boomers know they are mortal and that there is no afterlife and therefore they are sucking this country dry and leaving nothing for future generations of Americans except debt, poverty, and misery.
We've labeled one generation "the greatest", well I have labeled the Boomer's "the most worthless."

To be fair I let my emotions get the better of me with my quotation, but I was mostly referencing situations like the development of Tyson's Corner, where our prior generation said "Rah, rah, rah" and then left US the multi-billion dollar price tag to fix their mess via the current "Transforming Tyson's" initiative in which God only knows how high our taxes will spike to fix that mess. If they had spent a little more $$$ at the time to develop Tyson's efficiently in the first place, then it wouldn't be costing our generation BILLIONS to correct. I can think of many other such situations as well.
I don't just blame the Boomers though. There is plenty of blame to go around on all fronts for monstrosities like Tyson's Corner.

Yes. There was a lot of commotion last year if I'm not mistaken when everyone thought he was run over by car while walking. It turns out it was another elderly gentleman. That is the reason why there's now a stop sign at the intersection of Village Road and North Shore Drive at the entrance to Lake Anne. He's in his 90s now and still kicking. By "divine plan" I take it you're in the camp that feels as if Mr. Simon's founding principles ought to be abandoned? (I'm not judging---just inquiring). I'm questioning the relevance of adhering to 50-year-old ideologies myself.

I lived in Reston way back in the 1980s when it was so up and coming. I was 16 and in High School! It looks totally different now and very cool. I think we moved out in 1984. I know I am really aging myself.!
