Default Corporate housing in Tysons Corner

My daughter will be working in Tysons Corner for an 8-week summer internship at PriceWaterhouseCoopers. As she is relocating from Minnesota, we are struggling with housing. Obviously we need something short-term and furnished! We would also love inexpensive as she is a poor college student! Any suggestions on how to find something? There are other interns looking as well, and she is open to sharing an apartment, but they have no idea where to look. We have checked lots of websites and newspaper classifieds, but are only finding corporate housing that is very expensive, or apartments with long-term leases (usually unfurnished). Any advice appreciated!

The whole area is extremely expensive. If she's bringing a car, maybe try Herndon or Reston. Craigslist had listed $50 a night rates in some extended stay hotels near there. If you're looking for cheaper than that, I'd look for people leasing out rooms on Craigslist or similar. I don't know the area particularly well, but I interned near Tyson's Corner last summer and didn't see a lot of cheap options.

Check if PWC has specials with area apartment complexes or hotels for their interns.

Have you tried looking at craigslist? You might have some luck there. I would also check with the HR person at PWC. My guess is that they have had interns with similar issues and may be able to help. I know that one company I worked with had negotiated substantial discounts with some of the extened-stay hotels in the area for reasons like this.

Default housing in Tysons area

Hey,
I sent you a private message about a place we have available in our townhouse, but you can also try searching the roommate forum at McLean Bible Church Forums: Rooms & Roommates
in addition to Craigslist. This is a large church right in the Tysons area, with several thousand young college students and professionals who attend, so lots of available housing...

The company she is interning with should be giving her a list of summer living options, my company did several years ago. Check into George Mason University summer intern housing as well, I think they charge around $750ish per month? LOTS of inters in Northern VA live there. Craigslist is also a good option as well. But yeah you are in the wrong place if looking for inexpensive housing, most 1 bdrms in the Tysons area go for at least 800 per month and that is a rather conservative figure, many of my co-workers pay over $1000.
