You don't even want to know. Take VRE. Even carpooling on I66 is no easy step at times. Quite often the HOV lanes are bogged down just as bad as the non hov lanes.

At 7:30 am it used to take me 45 minutes to go from PW Hospital to the Braddock/Backlick intersection.
Mt father is very much an early bird, and he refuses to make appointments at 7 Corners earlier than 11am.

What time are you endeavoring to leave? Makes a big difference. Props to the folks who put up the VRE link - that may be your best option, depending on where in DC you're travelling to. Another option is the OmniRide Bus service - PRTC - The Ride That's Right For You. They have buses from Manassas to the Pentagon, Agriculture, 14th & NY, 19th & H, VA & 21st, 18th and 14th & PA, or just take the one to West Falls Church Metro and then Metro in.

Consistently driving single passenger auto from Manassas to DC during any stretch of rush hour will kill your soul. Any combination of VRE, OmniRide, carpool or hybrid makes it quite doable.

Hope this helps!

I used to commute from Manassas Park to Arlington. Took the VRE to Alexandria King Street, then took the metro to Rosslyn. Took me 80-90 minutes normally, but that time could go wayyyy up if there were any delays. I hated it, but it was better than trying to drive in. At least my employer picked up the cost of the metro cards every month.

The commute from Manassas Park VRE to L'Enfant Plaza VRE is 50 minutes. It is so nice.
The commute from Manassas Park VRE to Crystal City VRE is 42 minutes.
The commute from Manassas Park VRE to Alexandria VRE is 35 minutes.

I drive every so often to help me remember why I take the VRE.
