Did they raise the rates or something? Just got our bill and it's about 4 times higher than normal. Gotta be a mistake reading the meter or a water main break because our usage was no more than normal this summer. Anyone else experience a big increase?

It could be a leak somewhere. Turn off all the faucets in the house and check the water meter. If it's still spinning that means water is leaking somewhere.

The rates (sewer cost) did go up and our bill was the highest it has ever been since we moved in our home 12 years ago. There is a note on the lower left hand side of our bill indicating the sewer rate increase. Your increase seems a bit much if your bill is 4X higher than previously. I would look at your previous water bill and look at the usage amounts to do a comparison. I would call the water company to find out why the bill is so high if the numbers show an abnormal increase in usage.

This wouldn't jack up your bill THAT much, but has there been any increase in lawn-watering, powerwashing?

Compare your water usage-to-water usage bills (NOT the sewer rates, at first) from the past several billing cycles. I'm sure that it's the sewer rates that are killing you--those increases are astounding.

are they? or are you just kidding? (can't tell). We're not even on the county sewer, yet my neighbors say their bills have about doubled. Mine is up even more than that, although we have may have been doing more lawn watering this summer. Still, this water bill is an eye-opener all of a sudden.
