I've been offered a job in Gainesville and I live in Fairfax Station (between Burke and Springfield) and have to consider the commute. Anyone have experience with AM/PM traffic patterns or routes for this "reverse" commute? Work is generally from 8AM - 4:30 PM. Thanks for any advice!

Shouldn't have any problem at all. I commute from G'ville to Fairfax, and all lanes in other direction are always open and going > speed limit. Only slowdowns you may hit are on Ffx Co Parkway, and those would be minimal

My husband commutes from Vienna to Manassas and generally doesn't have a problem - it takes about 40 minutes to go 25 miles. I know they were widening I-66 up to Route 29, and they used to have backups at that point. If that's not done, then I suppose that might slow you down. If it is done, I imagine you will be fine. Traffic coming home is not as good as in the morning especially on Fridays (people are heading east to go to the beach or up or down I-95) or rainy days, but still not terrible - nothing like riding in the other direction.

Considering the area you'll have it made in the shade. You'll be looking at the traffic in the opposite direction thanking your lucky stars you're not in those lanes.
