now hopefully MD's gets built on schedule (by 2016 and 17) . I'm not sure when it's going to be feasible to extend it to tyson's. I don't think very highly of extending metro to places like woodbridge. perhaps eventually. we need better commuter train service (read more often) plus the "purple" line to get to the dulles corridor jobs.

Actually the Silver Line is already under construction in Northern Virginia. It will fork off of the Orange Line near Falls Church and head out to Tyson's Corner. From there it will travel down Route 7 to the toll road, where it will run down the median past Wolf Trap, through Reston (with a couple of stations), through Herndon (with a station or two), and on into Loudoun County. I believe the last station will be somewhere in Ashburn. The first phase, which will stop at Wiehle Avenue in Reston, is already funded and guaranteed to be built. The NIMBYs in Loudoun County (No...you don't say? Could have knocked me over with a feather!) have been squawking and foaming at the mouth over plans to increase tolls on the Dulles Toll Road to help fund the second portion of the line between Reston's Wiehle Avenue station and Ashburn. It seems like they'd just rather sit and stew in traffic in their SUVs while playing Phil Collins if it means they can save $0.25. The Silver and Purple lines are both LONG overdue!
