Default Commute from Jeffersonton to Broad Run

It looks like my husband and I will be moving to Jeffersonton and commuting to DC. Does anyone know how long it will take to get to Broad Run VRE station from there? He wants to drive all the way to DC. How long would it take him to drive from Jeffersonton to DC? We would be leaving between 5:00 am and 6:30 am. Thanks.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that is a very difficult commute as you have to handle all the west-of-DC/66/29 traffic. Jeffersonton is what, 60 miles from DC?

To the east of you, NoVA and its traffic start somewhat around Warrenton and in earnest around Haymarket.

Others may know better (I briefly lived in Gainesville, know the drive to Jeffersonton but have not done it in rush hour).

My guess would be 1 hr to the VRE (45 with no traffic, maybe 1:20 in really heavy back-up on 29, but you are on the early side). Plus the parking/waiting/riding time maybe 2.5 hrs or a little less total to DC.

Driving is probably the same (I always assumed 1:45 from Gainesville leaving at 6ish), but remember it is HOV only inside the beltway so you can't just do the straight shot on 66 unless you are commuting together. Depending on where you work in DC there are various alternatives.

Leaving at 5 will be much better than 6:30.
As a daily commute this would probably eat up a lot of your time.

Hi there, I used to live down the road in Catalpa! We use to always go to Manassas by way of Rt. 28, getting on at Remington. From where you are, Mapquest suggests cutting over on Opal Rd. crossing Rt. 29 and taking a left on Rt. 28 and then taking a right on Piper Ln at the airport/ VRE station. Estimated time of about 45 mins. With traffic I don't know. From what I remember Rt. 28 was a two lane road most of the way to Manassas, I haven't been on it in a few years so I don't know if it's been widened or not. You're not alone, growing up there in Culpeper I knew of many, many people commuting to DC/NoVa.
