Anyone know where I can get a quality oil change around Reston? I was able to get good service for around 25 dollars back home, so should I expect to pay like 50 dollars here?

You should be able to get an oil change for $25 or less.

Wherever you go, here's a litle tip. If your inspection stickers are about to expire you can often get the mechanic to take care of that at the same time. That way you don't have to stand in a long line just for an inspection.

I find the shortest line/quickest inspection is at the station at the NW corner of Centerville Rd/Elden Street and Worldgate Drive in Herndon.

There's an car wash and oil change stop at the corner of Route 7 and 606. The chain shops seem to charge about 35-40 dollars now. They used to be below 30 dollars earlier this decade. I would try the Hunters Woods gas station. They seem to be reasonable on repair costs.

I don't think it is too tought to find if you check around. NTB is one we have often gone to and not paid more than $25. Jiffy Lube is expensive. I went there once and paid too much $.

Why would anyone pay to have their oil changed? It's such a simple task.

That said, I pay more than $25 to change my oil myself...because I use super premium oil and the best filters money can buy.

Oil change places use 55 gallon drums of the cheapest oil they can find and also use the cheapest filters. Plus, there's a chance their minimum wage "technicians" will strip the threads in your oilpan....or Lord knows what else. Engines have been destroyed by errors made at these places...
