Question Help please!! Relocating next week!!!

Hello! Can someone please assist by answering a couple of quick questions? What utility companies are utilized for phone, cable, Internet, electric, and gas? I need the info for two cities, Winchester and Sterling. We are relocating next week, from Arizona, and would like to see what options are, before we arrive.

Many thanks!

from nv, I lived in Winchester for 2 years, I know for internet you can use Comcast. We used Vonage for phone service. Can't even remember what the electric/gas company was.

I just sold my house in Sterling, VA (lived there for 20 yrs). Here's the type of utilities we had:

gas: Washington Gas
electric: Virginia Power
Cable: Comcast
Internet Svc: Verizon

Good luck on your move!

South Jersey-- thanks!! I'm just so nervous about relocating to a part of the country I've never been to before! We are heading there without knowing anything more than what we've read, thanks in part to a job transfer, which requires my hubby to be within an hour commute to Dulles. We want to live in Sterling, but were advised that Winchester is more affordable. Were going to be renting. Any suggestions?

Winchester may be more affordable, but you're cutting that hour commute to Dulles mightly close. If he will be commuting during peak hours, I would suggest you skip Winchester.

Allegheny is the Power Company.

Depending on where you are living will determine what internet is available to you. If you are renting a house with some property, no high speed is available and you would either need dial up or satellite. Same goes for TV.

Otherwise Comcast is available and Verizon is the phone company. Verizon high speed internet may be available in some areas as well.

Don't know about the gas company because we have propane.

Default Find a Relocation specialist

A relocation specialist will be able to answer all of those questions and then some. Try doing a search on the net. I used Coldwell Banker when we moved here from Frankfurt, Germany and they were fantastic. A week is a bit short on time though. Good luck!

My husband is a flight attendant, thus the commute to Dulles...

Are Comcast & Verizon the only services available? We were hoping to use AT&T and maybe Time Warner ...

On another note, can someone advise how expensive is elec there? We pay about $380/mo here in AZ for a 3 bedroom house (1100 sqft).

Google maps says 1:16 from Winchester to Dulles.

A couple of smaller towns in the 1 hour range.
Berryville at 56 minutes.
Harpers Ferry at 59 minutes.

Remember these times are without out traffic.

Of Winchester and Sterling - I recommend Sterling to be closer to the airport and access to all the DC are has to offer.
