Reston seems unique, with all the tall buildings everywhere. Has it become one of the centers for highrises along with Arlington? Are there others like it in NOVA?

There are little pockets of high rises all over Nova. Reston's are mostly in the Town Center area and along Sunrise Valley/Sunset Hills. The Dulles Tech Corridor has lots of tall buildings. It stretches from Reston to Leesburg, although I think most of the taller buildings are east of Dulles Airport.

TYSONS is another interesting area. Sounds like VERY car-centric area, from what I gather. But I suppose the metro going there might make it more accessable without a car for people who don't want to be in traffic.

By the way, RESTON looks great in these photos. Maybe from RestonRunner's comments about Reston....but I had the impression it was a sterile suburb without any walkable areas with people about?

Tyson's is dense only in the office building/commercial area, which is not that huge. The residential area is mostly suburban. There are some apartment buildings right in the dense area that you might find interesting, but Tyson's isn't really big enough to be considered urban. "Urban lite" is more like it.

Reston Town Center is another great example of an area that is "urbanish" but not "urban". It's not even as urban as Arlington (and I've already noted that Arlington is "urbanish" not "urban"). The dense area extends for only 5-6 blocks in one direction, maybe 3-4 blocks in the other direction. It does not have the grit or the feel of a genuinely urban area. It's very clean and landscaped--almost too pretty (no gritty big city feeling). Many people find this charming (I'm definitely one of them--I'd LOVE to own a condo in one of the high rises there) but others don't care for it. Reston is extremely walkable, but it's walkable with a suburban feel.

One note about the Lake Anne photos. The pharmacy finally closed after being in business for 40 some years. I believe it's now a lakeside cafe.

Pharmacy got sold and is still there - with post office and Roti Grill.
