Default House Options in NOVA

Good morning all, I've read the many posts related to NOVA, and I will provide a little background. I just moved from the DC region last year (upper marlboro), and I am due to move back this summer. I am looking for an area where I can commute to Bolling AFB within 45 minutes. I need good schools and here is the caveat I don't want a 1500sq ft house built in 1909 ie Falls Church. I have a family of 5 plus 2 dogs so I have concentrated on the Burke area with a good interest in Woodbridge due to the fact that I really want a pool in my backyard. I can afford up to 620k for a house and I will be working shift work so my commute will only be miserable during days. Any thoughts...Min for us is a 2500 sqft house 4 bed...

One caution, which you've probably already thought of, but just in case: be sure to check whether your HOA (homeowners association) rules and zoning regs will permit you to install a pool if the house doesn't come with one. (Backyard pools are uncommon here.)
