Work at home 3 or 4 days per week (Arlington, Fairfax: how much, elementary school)

We are relocating to northern Virginia so my husband can take a job in Crystal City. I just learned that he will work at home 1 maybe 2 days per week (so only commuting 3 or 4 days per week with flexible start/finish times). We want a nice community with a great elementary school (3rd grade and 1st grade kids) and a nice $500K - $600K house. Is this possible? Where do we look?

In that price range, there are tons of places to choose from. As for schools, I'm not allowed to make a determination of what's a "great" school for you, so I won't comment on that piece. It's all pretty much going to boil down to how much time your hubby wants to spend in traffic travelling to/from work.

I'm not sure by the subject line if he'll be working at home 3 - 4 days a week or commuting 3 -4 days a week. If it's the former, then you can pick just about anywhere. If it's the latter, I would still suggest staying close in -- Arlington, Falls Church City, or Fairfax County.

I know if I were commuting just a day a week, and my spouse had no commute to consider, I'd probably be looking around Lucketts VA.
