My doctor's office refuses to carry it for some unknown reason. I called 3 different pediatrician's offices who all refused to allow me to come in to get it since I'm not a patient.

I know if MD, they're giving it for free to students but not here in VA that I know of.

Does anyone have any ideas where to get it? Thanks.

Are you looking for regular seasonal flumist? CVS and Safeway were giving them out - not sure if they still are. CVS was doing the actual shot. Safeway was doing the shot for adults and the mist for children ages 5-11. We went a few times the week before last and CVS was always crowded with an hour wait. At Safeway I walked right in and they did it in two minutes. Call your local stores for times and if they are still available.

In Virginia, the only place outside a doctor's office that your child can get a flu vaccine (mist or shot), is either CVS because it's like an urgent care, or the health department. VA law does not allow those under 18 to get vaccinated by these roving vaccination clinics--it must be associated with a doctor's visit. As far as I know, CVS only got shots but not the mist, so I think you might be out of luck. The only other thing you can try are some of the urgent care clinics. The adverstise that they do flu vaccines. It will be a more expensive doctor's visit and probably a long wait, but it might be worth a try.

Safeway was definitely doing it for children ages 5 and up here in Fairfax. They were giving them the Flumist.

That's good to know. Maybe things have changed and maybe because it's mist over injection?
