Default DC Holiday events not to miss?

This is our first holiday in NOVA. Is there anything spectacular that we shouldn't miss? (us is me, husband and a 3yr old girl) I put my name in for the lottery for the Christmas tree lighting and I'm considering buying tickets for the Rockettes but was looking for other ideas too.

Don't bother with the lighting of the National Christmas Tree, though. It's usually a long wait out in the cold, and not that much fun.

First Night in Old Town Alexandria. Fairfax City also has a First Night but I've never been to that one.

Mount Vernon - they decorate the mansion for Christmas.

Mount Vernon by Candlelight (sells out, you need to buy tickets at George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens).

Not actually in DC but wonderful fun for a three year old girl and her Mom! : The Junior League of Northern Virginia: The Enchanted Forest The Junior League of Northern Virginia does a wonderful job with Santa, crafts and too many beautiful trees to count!
