I grew up in Nova, and went to Robinson for highschool. After having lived in NYC, Chicago, Florida, and now Atlanta I realize what a great place Nova was to grow up.

Nova offered the suburban lifestyle of a house with a backyard but at the same time the diversity and sophistication of a great city in that backyard!!

I really enjoyed growing up being able to learn about so many different cultures whether it be northern, southern, indian, korean, vietnamese, ethiopian, etc. The school system was some of the best I've seen in the nation as well with the public services!!

I've come across many people and places that do not have half the advantages I did just by growing up there!

just wanted to give Nova a shoutout!!

I'm glad to hear that you had such a wonderful time growing up here and encourage you to come back to visit sometime. The leaves (the few that are left, anyways, after that monsoon we just had) should be at their peak by next week.

Monsoon? From my understanding Atlanta is the one that had the monsoon with all that flooding.

But yeah the leaves are getting prettier by the day. I grew up in Georgia but in good ol' Columbus not Atlanta, and we have so many pine trees down there only a handful of leaves turn. Fall up here is just gorgeous seems likes the leaves are turning a little earlier in the burbs than in the city. I have a nice view outside my office in Arlington and its still fairly green with just a few spots here and there. Yeah this is a funky time of year with the temp changes but still a great season.

I just hope the leaves change soon. Here in Reston I'm practically wading through fallen leaves already. If too many more of them fall we're going to have a "dud" of a foliage season.

P.S. Apparently you weren't spending much time outdoors this past weekend, as I was! LOL! I almost froze to death doing the Race to Remember in the District.

I guess when I think monsoon I"m thinking lots of storms not just lots of light rain. And yes I was unfortunately outside. Mama was in town so I took her sightseeing in the city. Yes very very cold.

We had pretty heavy rains out here, enough that our basement flooded.

No problem!!! Nova is an awesome place to have a family and raise your kids while being able to expose them to so much that will be helpful in the long run.

To hear people who grew up here talk, it's hard to believe they're talking about the same place. The best reasons for having your children grow up here are for the networking/job opportunites. Second for the exposure to culture (if you bundle arts, museums, and history into that term).
