We're thinking about trying to visit the Washington Monument this Wednesday, since our oldest has the day off from school. Do the monuments and museums tend to be crazy busy on Veteran's Day?

Thanks!

I wish I could help you, but this will be my first year going somewhere for Veteran's Day, too. I guess after Wednesday we'll both be experts. Looks like it's going to be a rainy day, so my guess is the museums will be crowded, but the monuments won't.

I have been to the Vietnam Memorial and others nearby during Vets Day. This was awhile ago (5-6 yrs ago) so I don't know how things are in recent years. Crowded but not overbearing. Lots of Vietnam vets, bikers, etc. when I was there -- very good atmosphere.

Follow up. It wasn't crazy, but the monuments were a lot more crowded than I expected, considering it was cold, rainy and dreary. An impressive number of people at the Vietnam Memorial, paying their respects, and a few people at the WWII Memorial too. I was glad to see that.
