I-81 has a lot of cars too, but it still moves reasonably well.

Thanks for the responses. But my daughter just called and they are coming here (NoVA) instead of NY. Should be an easier drive.

From where they are coming, Jax NC, they'll have to use 95. I told her to listen to the radio and if 95 sounds bad I told her how to head west to 29 or 81.

What is the best day to travel I81 from Charlotte to Gaithersburg, Md? We'll leave on Friday or Saturday go to Winchester then Charlestown - 340 to 270 and down to Gaithersburg. We hate 66 and the beltway so we go out of our way to avoid them. Any ideas? We have even tried White's Ferry!!!
