Can anyone tell me their impression/thoughts of Glenkirk Elementry and if you have kids there if you feel the opening of the Linton Hall School will help with the overcrowding? Also too how have you found the curriculum at the school and the programs. I've heard the class sizes are pretty large and was wondering if the level of instruction was suffering. How is the administration?

I've checked out greatschools.com and saw it got a 7 but most of the reviews are from two years ago and I know alot can change..Any thoughts well appreciated!

My son is in kindergarten at Glenkirk Elementary. What can I say? I think he's getting a good education, but both my husband and I are greatly involved in his learning at home. Kindergarten is nothing like when I went to school when it was all about the nap and what we are getting for a snack. He's learning to read and now they are taking a weekly spelling test. He has learned so much in a little time.

I was volunteering in my child's class, but I got a bit fed up with the teacher wasting my time. She knew when I was scheduled to help with the childrens' writing assignments, but she frequently had other things scheduled for that time. So at times I was twiddling my thumbs. From what I've been told, he has one of the better teachers. I just think she has time management issues.

Glenkirk is the largest elementary school in PWC with over 1200 students. This number will fall to approximately 600 next year with the opening of two new elementary schools in the area.

I have a fourth grader at Glenkirk and have been happy with his education as well. The population will drop nearly in half next year when the new school opens. I know they are losing some "specials" due to the smaller population, but don't think that's a huge negative. As I understand it, the goal in PWC in general is for each elementary classroom to have between 23 and 28 students -- which is a decent size. Some of the classes may have closer to 30 students since the school is so overpopulated, but the numbers will undoubtedly be back to 23 students next year.
