Any thoughts good or bad about the Sunnybrook subdivision area in Vienna. Schools? Commute to Pentagon? Safety? Anything else? Thank you so much for all of your help. This forum is great!!

Very nice area; very good schools (Oakton ES/Thoreau Middle/Madison High); and quite safe. Only downside is that it's not a particularly convenient location for someone commuting to the Pentagon (it's about 22 miles from the Pentagon).

Pentagon is an easy commute from Vienna, if you take the subway.

Where is Sunnybrook?

Off Hunter Mill, south of the Toll Road and north of Lawyers Road.

Guess it wouldn't be a bad commute by subway (Hunter Mill to 123 to Nutley), but you'd have to park at the station, wait for a train, and then switch to the Blue Line in Rosslyn. Compared to just driving from, say, either West Springfield or North Arlington, it would be a longer trip.

Ah, yes. That part of Vienna is nowhere near the subway.

The metro is coming to within a mile of Sunnybrook by 2012 or 2013 & is currently well ahead of schedule. I think the stop will be at Wiehle in Reston. Dulles Metrorail - Map and Stations
Dulles Metrorail - Wiehle Avenue (http://www.dullesmetro.com/stations/wiehle.cfm - broken link)

The lots in the neighborhood are all at least 1/2 acre and there are deer and fox that we frequently see in the neighborhood. It is very quiet and the location to the toll road is excellent without being noisy. Many homeowners are original homeowners and take great pride in the fact that they have stayed here for 25+ years because they like it so much.

Madison high school is one of the best in fairfax county.
