I'm thinking of going to Shamrock Fest this year. It's the largest Saint Paddy's festival in the Mid-Atlantic Region. They hold it on the grounds of RFK Stadium, and it features more than 40 live bands (Rock, Irish, Blues, Retro and Folk music). Also, carnival rides, party zones, things like that.

I've never been--daylong music festivals aren't usually my thing--but this year the lineup includes Train and I lovegoing to their concerts. So I'm wondering, has anyone been to this in years past and what did you think?

I go every year. It's definitely got a drunken frat-boy vibe, but the music's always good and it's a fun atmosphere.

I liked it better before they moved it to RFK, but it should still be a fun time.

I wonder how the snow mounds will affect it? Do you think they'll clear off the whole stadium area? It's hard to imagine an all-day music fest with snow mounds everywhere.

Good question... I think they will scramble to remove the snow if its still a big problem. Hopefully we will have more melting over the next few weeks.

Am I right to assume that the drunken frat boy stuff is mostly in the party zone areas? I don't mind a little bit of drinking, but don't really want to be in a huge crowd of rowdy drunks.

Well it is a celebration of St Patty's Day afterall But, when I was there a few years back it was a very open festival atmosphere. I don't think you'll feel confined to being amongst a bunch of drunks doing keg stands if that's you are worried about.

There's also something called Kegs and Eggs. Is that part of the Shamrock Fest or a different event?

Very true, it is a celebration of St Patty's Day and I still have an inner party animal that enjoys getting a little rowdy once a year. Just not TOO rowdy.
