I go to the Eddie Pockey show every Friday at Pistone's Italian Inn (Seven Corners, on Arlington Blvd., in Falls Church). The show is free (no cover charge but you are expected to order dinner and/or drinks) with live music that is not loud but a lot of talent. Music is popular, classic rock and traditional country music type), see his website at Eddie Pockey - Country ain't always pretty - HOME or go to Italian Cuisine - Falls Church, VA - Pistone's Italian Inn for directions. Anyway, this is a very nice place with friendly people, it won't cost you a fortune, you can order anything from sandwiches to pizza (and of course full Italian style entrees too), drinks are very reasonable.

That sounds like fun. I'll have to try it.

March 12 kicks off the celebrations of St. Paddy's Day with Kegs and Eggs. Kegs and Eggs party has become an institution over last eight years, offering big-name musical performances (including O.A.R. and Soul Asylum) and Mardi Gras-style madness alongside early morning beers. This year's Kegs party is at Clarendon Ballroom, and it looks set to continue the tradition. Doors open at 7:30, and the musical lineup features one-time "O.C." darlings Rooney, Cowboy Mouth; and local fixture Carbon Leaf.

And, as we've all heard by now, March 13 is Shamrock Fest! On the grounds of the RFK Stadium, this is the largest Saint Paddy's festival in the Mid-Atlantic Region. It features more than 40 live bands. Enjoy a day-long festival of Rock, Irish, Blues, Retro and Folk music, as well as party zones, carnival rides, games, an Irish Village, and a variety of activities.

I don't know much about that area at all, but I'm sure there's a lot going on there. And in Alexandria, which is not that far. I'd love to see some of our members who live out that way chiming in. Not just for that particular weekend, but whenever something's going on.

If you're looking for something off beat, this Saturday is the 4th Annual Capital Queeer Prom and Casino Royale. A memorable event at The Almas Shrine Temple, 1315 K St., NW in DC. This casino-style prom was created to give LGBT adults a second-chance to have the prom they should have had years ago! This year's event benefits the Wanda Alston House.
