Starting my laundry list of yucks today: I know the Wash. Post is metro but since I'm in NoVa, I thought I'd see if anybody else hates the new sudoku puzzle, I look forward to the Samauri Soduku on Sundays and not it's a really hard thing, which I was game to try but it's 4 out of 5 stars difficulty-wise and I've never even seen anything like it I already went through withdrawal from no Post during the snow, so missing that and the crossword, now this (AND my team is out of contention), the cold and wind, NOT a good Sunday. Just venting and wondering if any others are already hating the winter, LOL.

Well, our electricity (and heat) went off just before we went to bed last night, around 10:30 p.m. The maintenance office was closed for the night, naturally. So, we turned the shower on in the master bath, shut the door, and slept in a sauna. Only problem was, the condensation on the windows and ceiling dripped onto my antique cherry furniture (inherited from my parents) all night and destroyed the finish.

The good part? By begging help from the guy in the security booth at the entrance to the property the next morning (the only living soul we could find on the grounds who was employed by the complex, and not just a renter like ourselves), we were able to get some guys in here to fix a fried wire behind/near the circuit box a little after noon today. However, the motor in the master bedroom heating unit had been damaged by the same condensation water that wrecked the furniture, so it'll have to be replaced tomorrow morning (the 'emergency' people can't do that, apparently). My SO is asleep in there right now, with no heat. He says he doesn't mind it.

Sorry to hear about your nice furniture - can I ask though why you turned on the shower?

Cold weather? I love it. The wind IS brutal though, and I don't really care for Wind Chills that are Sub-Zero. The wind cuts through just about anything. Last night I wore an undershirt, thermal top, T-shirt, grey zip-up hoodie, and my new Yankees authentic team jacket (That I got for Christmas). The jacket isn't all that thick, but it has a special thinsulate type layer of fleece, and it completely cut out the wind.

I also saw Avatar 3D, and that was a lot of fun as well (It is an amazinginly cool movie).

As for my gripes? The REDSKINS!!! They're my team forever, but I can hardly recall a worse season than this!

I have not bought into the Redskin hype despite the fact that this area will more than likely be my home, but I sure was pulling for them yesterday and hoping they would beat the crybabies. That was a sad game to watch and so close.

Well, today is not going to be one of my favorite days. I have to go in for chemo again and that's something I really hate, especially with these cold icy winds.

On the other hand, there are some good things to say about today. It's kind of pretty outside in a silvery, wintery sort of way. I do enjoy having variety in my weather. The days are now getting longer, and when my cat and I stretch out in front of the window the sun feels really good. Wall Street Journal was unusually good today.

And you guys are here. I think we have one of the better forums here on city-data; I'm very grateful this isn't one of the cities where you never get a response or where everyone is very caustic.

Hang in there everybody, it's just one of those days I guess. Warmer days are coming (and better days, too).

I think the oven would have been a better alternative to the shower.

Sorry your team is out of contention Flamingo! You are not alone in the "already hating the winter" I am there too!

Well the garage I chose to bring my car to doesn't have the proper software to read the error codes for my model of car. Grrrr....The closest dealership is about 45 minutes away and they want me to leave my car there but I have no way to get home. Although the garage did tell me they are going to get the software but it could take up to a week. All of this just to get a stupid Airbag light turned off and my car inspected. Very frustrating day so far, so I'd have to say you're not alone.
