Y'all... but I say "you guys." Unless of course someone is serving rounds of Southern Comfort

Um, I don't know too many people in NoVA that say "y'all." Maybe west or south of the state. On occasion I have heard "Howdy" instead of "Hi" and "Haw there" (for "Hi there").

It's y'all, but this area's so transient that you'll hear y'all, you all, you guys, youse guys . . . You name it. Just speak like yourself and you'll fit right in, no matter who you happen to be.

Oh, and I haven't taken the opportunity to say it, but (early) welcome to NoVa! I hope you love it here.

The only "ya'll" I've heard in a long time in NOVA comes from a person from NC. At least he doesn't say "you 'uns".

Normie - I kinda knew you were the unofficial Mayor of this sub-forum, but today's Washington Post (article in the Metro section indicating that "you guys" goes down better than "y'all" with NoVa voters) confirms it beyond a doubt.

LOL, we were talking about this yesterday and it makes it into the Post today? I bet they're reading us... and when they're stuck for an article idea they just borrow a few from this forum!

NAh, the Post never does articles about Loudoun County. They think this talk about communities outside the beltway is all just a myth...
