Our ancient dishwasher just gave out and I was wondering what you thought were good places to buy appliances - I was thinking Home Depot, Sears, Best Buy and was wondering about your experiences with them. We are also going to replace our ancient stove

I am looking for middle of road applicances - not the cheapest and not the fancy high-end ones either.

Also - do you think stainless steel will look dated in a couple of years?

Just bought a fridge at Home Depot and was very happy with their service. You might check Lowes too.

I would check online for prices first and compare.

I found that Home Depot's delivery service is better than Best Buy's. Also it includes "hookup" while BB is just delivery.

As part of our kitchen renovation, we bought all of our appliances (stainless steel, middle of the road) from Sears. I've been pleased with them and will buy from Sears in the future.

I replaced all my kitchen appliances a year ago. I shopped around at all the usuals and ended up getting top notch customer service at Bray and Scarff. Appliances in Laurel, Maryland, Bowie, Cockeysville, Columbia, Bethesda, Rockville, Frederick, Sterling, Virginia, Arlington, Fairfax, Vienna, Alexandria - Appliances Retail Store | Appliances in Laurel, Maryland, Bowie, Cockeysville, Columbia, Bethe

I never gave my dishwasher a second thought and only purchased a new one after I realized that I was considering replacing everything in the kitchen except the dishwasher. I am now in LOVE with my dishwasher.

BTW - I don't like stainless and went with all black appliances.

You may have lucked out. A co-worker had a nightmarish experience with Bray & Scarff on a high end dishwasher. It never worked right and after two years of trying to get it fixed she gave up and bought another one elsewhere.

Only 27 percent of Washington Consumer Checkbook respondents reported a favorable experience with B&S.

I have to second this recommendation. We had the same washer in our house in NY and it is great. Smaller, more frequent loads with the ability to do eco water levels...great dishwasher.

Now in our house here we have the standard washer. I will someday replace it with the FisherPaykel..good luck!

We had to replace our stove, refrigerator, and washing machine last year. We got everything from Lowe's and have been very pleased with their selection, prices, and service. They also offer a 10% military discount, which helps.

I can't wait 'til our dishwasher goes out too. I'm coveting dish drawers too.
