Our mailman made it through at 12:30, way early.

So, now we have heat, and I just did my snow day baking, yunmy chocolate chip/pecan cookies. Wish someone could make it here to help me eat them, could only give so many to the poor heating guy.

If Normie left any I would be glad to help you eat those, they sound yummy.

The plow just went up our street for the fourth time today. We are a short cul de sac street tucked back in too.

So I noticed yesterday the roads were not treated prior to the storm like I've seen in the past. Was this because, A) they weren't anticipating the amount of accumulations, or B) it's the weekend, or both?

Well, forecast was spot on - they said about 6" and I measured 5 1/2! It is the lighter fluffier stuff also as predicted. No plows through here but I didn't really expect any, sunny tomorrow so much of it (hopefully) will melt.

I wouldn't see any reason why. I walked to Blockbuster in North Reston last night to return some movies, and there were a lot of vehicles on the roads getting around just fine then. If they don't have the roads passable in Loudoun County by tomorrow morning then that's pretty sad.

We took a fairly long walk this morning. I could not believe how many animal tracks we saw--it looked like the fox, deer and raccoons were throwing quite a party last night. Every single house was circled 3-4 times, and all the yards were criss crossed with tracks.

The funniest was the side of a hill where 4-5 deer apparently tried to run up the side of the hill, got about halfway, and then either slid down or had to turn and run back down. After the first deer slid, you'd think the others would simply walk on the path around the hill instead of attempting to run up the side of the hill. But no... which makes me think they were doing it for fun. A deer sledding hill! Wish I had a web cam on that hill in the middle of the night to catch all the action.

Schools are already closed for some of the kids. It is a teacher's workday in Pr. Wm. and Fairfax counties. I think it is highly unlikely they will close the schools for the teachers and admin (although it would be nice if they did so). Time to enter the grades for the second marking period

Hmm looks like tomorrow is "Moveable Student Holiday* (Planning/Records/Conference Day)" Does that mean a day off for Loudoun Co students? I'm very new to the school system (4 weeks) so anyone? I'd love a good excuse to sleep in.
