OK, that brings up another question. What's the difference between a hoagie, a sub, and a hero?

They're actually different names for the same thing.

My post was just mocking the fact that they call them something different ("subs") around here. Back home, it's always "hoagies".

Of course, now someone from New England is going to come in and tell us they're "grinders".

LOL, a grinder is what we used to call suggestive dancing.

No, it is "grindahs." Say it right...

I haven't had a good sub in this area since 1978 when we still had real Italian delis.

Now, I guess I like the subs from Wegman's. I get the one normie mentioned; however, I get it with mayo and Italian dressing. I'll have to try the honey mustard.

My vote is for "The Italian Store" in Arlington. My husband took me there a few weeks back and the sub I had was delicious.

The Italian Store

I would love to try the pizza and they have authentic Italian food.

Tell them to put one line of honey mustard and then one line of spicy mustard. It's the best! Whenever I order it that way I usually get the people in line behind me making the same request. Maybe I should ask them to start calling it "the Normie"

You can get sandwiches very much like the Italian Store at the Italian Deli in the Belle View shopping center south of Old Town. The very best Philly style hoagies in the entire area can be found at Taylor Gourmet on H St. or K St. in DC. They have the rolls trucked down daily from Philly. Well worth going out of one's way for the true hoagie aficianado.

TAYLOR| Gourmet Deli • Italian flavors. Urban Taste
