Hi all,
It looks like I may be coming to DC/NOVA sooner than I thought and want to know the deal on Extended stay hotels in the area. I will be doing a search on the net but since you folks are already there, what are the best ones? Craigslist has a studio at an Extended Stay listed in Fairfax on Lee Jackson Memorial Highway for $999 a month, Is this a safe area? The others listed seem to be much higher.

Are there other apartments that will do a short term deal like the Extended Stay hotels?

You might want to check out Glebe House in S. Arlington/Arlandria. Also, I've seen a few listings from time to time on Craigslist. They have different options to choose from in the housing/apartment section. Good luck.

I just got an email from Ave Dulles today. It was directed towards Realtor referrals .. I have no idea what its rates are (but I could investigate). I would say that Extended Stay on Lee Jackson would be a safe area .. it's very close to my office! The Extended Stay is newer ... first on the block ... it's in a good plaza with shopping and restaurant opportunities. Also pretty good access to main highways.

Thanks jlyles. I will keep this one on my list. I have forgotten what all the areas are like since it's been 12 years since I've been there. I can only imagine the traffic is even more horrific.......

Well, Arlington and Chantilly are miles and hours apart when it comes to the commute. And you may not recognize certain areas, especially that Chantilly corridor. Figure out where you're going to work, then deal with looking for a place, unless you can make use of Metro, for example. There are a number of condo units situated near West Falls Church, for example. Quite a few of the listings I see indicate short-term availability at increased rate, of course. Hope that helps!
