How do you really measure a "top elementary school"? These schools are all part of the FCPS system.

In any event, to the extent test scores correlate with income levels, the more affluent parts of Springfield generally are in the 22152 and 22153 zip codes, rather than 22150 or 22151. Some of the elementary schools in 22152 and 22153 feed into Irving MS and West Springfield HS, and others (like Sangster ES) feed into Lake Braddock Secondary.

King's Park/King's Glen is technically in Springfield, but the schools serve parts of Burke as well. We love it!

Parts of 22512 and 22153 feed to Key MS and Lee HS. Parts of 22153 feed to South County Secondary.

A part of the West Springfield ES territory goes to Irving MS then feeds to Lee HS. I haven't heard good things about Lee HS. Basically if you have to take Hunter Village Dr, to get to the house then it feeds to Lee.

I went to Cardinal Forest ES, then Irving MS. I didn't think there was anything special about them, kind of very average education. Irving didn't have a GT center then, though it did have some GT courses, I had to go to West Springfield HS to take GT Geometry in 8th grade, and then they bused 6 of us back to Irving after 1st period, this is not an issue at secondary schools. Maybe things have changed since then this was all 14-18 years ago.
