Tom Hanks's character's experience in Castaway was like that of a fed gov't employee who's not given enough to do - we have to find creative ways to entertain ourselves. I've been decorating my cubi with pine cones, but I haven't started talking to them (yet).

Ummm, let' see...

#1 The Wizard of Oz - Dick Cheney's looking for a heart and (just to be bipartisan) Joe Biden's looking for a brain.

#5 The Godfather - The question Richard Nixon's least favored being asked, and/or Barack Obama's offer to Eric Holder: "Justice? You want Justice?"

And in a non-political spirit:

#7 Star Wars - Tysons Corner really WAS the inspiration for the Death Star.

Speaking about "True Lies" does anyone know where the hotel is that Arnold Schwarzeneggar rides a horse onto a glass elevator? Is that an actual local hotel or something from Hollywood's imagination?

LOL, you know I think you may be right! Maybe that explains the best way to navigate traffic around Tysons. Use the force, let the force guide you...

How about It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World from the classics file? It could easily represent the pace and frenzy of commutes around here.

The glass elevators are actually the Westin Bonaventure, and the lobby scene was filmed at the Ambassador on Wilshire, since it was a popular filming spot in the years from its closure to its demolition.

The movie "Breach" comes to mind. With the American spy for Russia who was living in Vienna. Didn't he eventually get caught giving away secrets at one of the local parks or something?

In the movie "Diehard 2" Bruce Willis is running around snowy and cold Dulles airport when he picks up a payphone to call his wife, but the payphone says "Pacific Bell" which only services the west coast!
