ok fat bodies, summertime is coming it up and it's time to trim those bodies down. we all love to go out to lunch, but who has the best salads?

plaka grill - plaka salad with chicken or lamb meat added
cafe deluxe - beet salad
cornerstone - salad with grilled chicken added

where do you go, what do you get?

For a quick salad at Tysons, I'd go for the Cafe inside Nordstrom (seriously!). You can eat there alone (if you have to) and get in and out very quickly, but the salad will be very fresh for a quick-service place. It's also kinda cool to watch them toss it right in front of you. The only negative about the Tysons Cafe Nordstrom location is that it's very dark.. it always feels kind of weird to be eating light, fruity salads in a place that feels like a basement with high ceilings.

Mind you, I wouldn't normally make a rec for a place inside a department store - excepting of course the immortal Walnut Room inside Chicago's flagship Marshall Field & Co. (I will never call it 'Macy's') - but since we're talking about Tysons, I suppose it's sort of apropos.

Crispy Two Noodle Shrimp Salad at Coastal Flatts inside Tysons Mall. Actually -- ALL of their salads are excellent. I also like the grilled salmon salad and the roast chicken salad with dates and goat cheese.

Oh, yes! The grilled salmon at Coastal Flats! Practically licking the bowl when I finished LOL! Fabulous dressing.

Probably not the best, but I actually really like the chicken Cesar salad at the salad bar at Piazza di Giorgio at the top floor of Tysons Galleria, next to the Bang & Olufsen store. Have it for lunch all the time.

I think you might want to take a "real" look at the calories and fat content in rest. salads. Just because it is a salad does not mean that it is healthy.

So I should stop pouring blue cheese dressing all over my salads to make them taste better?

La Madeleine's Spinach Salade: Fresh spinach with mushrooms, roasted pecans, bacon, red bell peppers and strawberries, tossed with balsamic vinaigrette. I couldn't find the calorie count online...but it's got to be fairly diet friendly. (except for the bacon!)

Chipotle's steak salad is 510 calories and includes black beans, guacamole, and red tomatilla salsa. Yes, it's a chain restaurant but it's pretty tasty, IMO. Compare that to the Grande Taco Salad at On The Border which has a whopping 1,620 calories. The two salads taste similar but there's more thn a thousand calorie difference between them.

On the cheapie route -- the grilled chicken and fruit salad at Chik Filet is actually quite tasty.
