If Gilligan's Island was a parody telling the story of northern Virginia, which communities would play the various roles?

I see Ashburn representing Mary Ann. Young, and still attached to a few farms.

Great Falls and McLean would be Mr. & Mrs. Howell. Rich, old money. A little bit snooty.

But which town would represent the Professor? Glamorous Ginger? The Skipper? And don't forget Gilligan...

The Professor? Maybe the Dulles Tech Corridor.

The Skipper? Old Town Alexandria with its marina.

Gilligan? Clarendon/Ballston on a weekend night!

I think of Old Town Alexandria as Ginger. Glamorous, and all the young guys are attracted to her.

The Skipper could be Fair Lakes, since it has the Government Center. But I think Tyson's Corner is the real leader of the area, so Tyson's should be the Skipper. And if Tyson's the Skipper it makes sense Vienna would be Gilligan, the "little buddy" always at his side.

Mary Anne seems like a Manassas gal to me. As for the professor--I think Langley, home of the CIA, suits him.

LOL, too funny, especially the choice for Gilligan! Good suggestions.

The White House could represent the natives. And you know it is 100% true!

DC hasn't been annexed by Virginia just yet.

Let's keep this light-hearted.

If Nova was on Gilligan's Island, instead of huts the castaways would live in McMansions. The off-and-on broken radio would represent Comcast. The plot would involve the castaways being visited by workers installing FIOS. Hooray, now that FIOS is here finally they'll be rescued off the island. But alas, the workers leave in the middle of the night, leaving them still stuck on the island.

If Nova was on Gilligan's Island, metro would be made out of palm trees and coconut shells, wrapped together with duct tape. Hmmm.... not so much different than the real life version....

Ginger would be Middleburg. It's got a certain amount of glamor, and that's where all the movie stars live.

If Nova was on Gilligan's Island, "We can't get off the island" would be changed to "We can't get off the beltway!"

And forget typhoons, cannibals, or visits from the Harlem Globetrotters. This year the castaways would have to endure a freak blizzard.

We'd have to find another island for Ginger...so we wouldn't have to look at her!

My late father used to amuse himself by playing the trumpet in local orchestras....usually in productions of popular Broadway shows that were staged at Lisner Auditorium, Carter Barron, and the Shady Grove amphitheatre. One summer, while Gilligan's Island was still in production (mid 60's?), Tina Louise (Ginger) appeared in one of the shows my dad played at Shady Grove. Dad always took my sister and I backstage afterwards to meet the cast. Well, sis and I were shocked...Ginger was SCARY lookin' in person!

They used to say the "magic of television"....well it was certainly true in the case of Ginger!
